Petaluma, CA, August 27, 2002: Xandex Inc. President and CEO Kamran Shamsavari was awarded a Department of Defense "Above and Beyond" plaque last Wednesday by the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) in a ceremony at Xandex headquarters in Petaluma, CA. Venna Bishop, Local Chair for the San Jose Area ESGR presented the award to Mr. Shamsavari in recognition of Xandex's outstanding employer support of the US National Guard and Reserve. Captain Ted Wong, USMC Reserves and also Xandex DieMark® Products Account Manager, nominated Mr. Shamsavari for an ESGR "My Boss is a Patriot" recognition award in February, 2002. After further review, Ms. Bishop decided Mr. Shamsavari's company, Xandex Inc., should also receive the next highest award for going "above and beyond" in support of Mr. Wong's active duty service. In presenting the award, Venna Bishop described the ESGR recognition program's rationale. "Currently 54% of our military is comprised of men and women like Captain Wong, who are "Citizen Soldiers." ESGR recognizes the tremendous impact this is having on your company as well. This plaque is one way we can commend and publicly acknowledge your support. It is a team effort because when a co-worker is away serving their country everyone who fills in for them is a Patriot!" Captain Wong has served 18 of the past 22 months on active duty as Commanding Officer of ECO Company, 2nd Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division. He was first activated for service in March 2001 as a Military Liaison Officer in Macedonia during their civil war. After returning to his civilian position at Xandex on Sept 5, 2001, Captain Wong's unit was mobilized in support of homeland defense following the September 11 attack and currently serves as a quick response force to FEMA, providing security and situation management in response to any declared state of emergency. "I wanted to thank Kamran and the Xandex Sales team and recognize them for providing the cooperation and financial support that has allowed me to focus on my military mission of homeland defense" Captain Wong said following the ceremony. While giving 100% to his active duty responsibilities, Mr. Wong has also provided technical and sales support to Xandex customers and staff by email and telephone whenever possible, an effort much appreciated by Mr. Shamsavari and the Xandex Sales team. "Being a reservist would cause major interruption in the career paths of talented and patriotic individuals such as Ted." commented Mr. Shamsavari on receiving the award. "Supporting them as much and as long as possible is the least a corporation should do." About Xandex Xandex, Inc. provides innovative test solutions to the semiconductor industry.
